Donald has developed a number of affordable accommodation properties over recent years with a business partner, which they retain for rental income.
Donald, who holds a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting from Monash University, is also a CPA, and Registered Domestic Builder with unlimited licence in Victoria.
Donald has been treasurer of The Registered Accommodation Association of Victoria Ltd since 2010. The association is set up to represent landlords in the registered accommodation space. Donald has been involved in submissions to state and federal government relating to legislative changes affecting the sector, and contributed to the set-up of the information website www.raav.org.au
Prior to getting involved in affordable accommodation projects Donald did many traditional developments in Victoria and Queensland, renovating houses, renovation and sub-division of old blocks of flats, consolidation and permitting of sites. Donald purchased his first investment property at age 19 using a $5,000 gift from his Granny and three credit cards for the deposit.
Mark and Amanda Baker
Mark and Amanda Baker are full time property investors, and owner of MPIP Pty Ltd.
MPIP Pty Ltd specializes in the development, conversion and management of rooming houses.
Mark and Amanda have been involved in the conversion of a number of older homes to rooming houses and project managed building of new ones.
Mark is a licensed real estate agent and has an excellent knowledge of the sections of the National Construction Code and Residential Tenancies Act relevant to rooming houses.
Mark has been on the committee of the Registered Accommodation Association of Victoria for several years and a Director since April 2016. Mark has been actively involved in working on submissions to the State and Federal Governments. Some of these have included the review of the Access to Premises Standards and the review of the Residential Tenancies Act .
Mark and Amanda have been investing in positive cash flow real estate since the mid 1990s. They bought their first house together in their early twenties, less than 6 months after meeting, and married 6 months after that. They raised the deposit by selling a few cars they owned only keeping a 1974 Datsun 120Y as the family car. They still own this investment property today, but not the Datsun
